The Whiteman Area Zoning Committee was created in anticipation of legislation being passed to create an Airport Zoning Commission. On September 20, 2007 an ordinance was adopted to create an Airport Zoning Commission. This commission was put in place to prevent an airport hazard.On 1 October 2009, the Johnson County Commissioners accepted the Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Ordinance. They completed a proclamation which put the zoning ordinance into effect as of 1 October 2009.
These meetings are normally held on a quarterly basis during the year, on the second Thursday of the month they are held, and in the same location and same time. These meetings will be held during the months of February, May, August, and November.
The public is always welcome to attend and a period will be set aside for their comments and inputs to the commission
